Some people happened to text/call last night when stuff was going down. I don't want to take up too much time talking to people or texting since my focus is on helping Merilee. Honestly I feel really useless but she does need reminders to slow down her breathing every now and then.
Yesterday (July 4th) we had an NST (non-stress test where they just monitor fetal heart rates and contractions) at noon. She started contracting a lot pretty soon after she got hooked up to the monitors. There are two hospitals in town. French is covered by our insurance, Sierra Vista is out of network. We do NSTs at French but are delivering at Sierra Vista since it's the one equipped to handle twin deliveries.
After the contractions wouldn't stop, Mer got an ambulance ride to Sierra Vista. We arrived with nothing prepared. After a few hours of settling in, going through contractions, and talking with the doctor I ran some errands including getting some food from a friend's BBQ that we missed (we got to Sierra Vista around 6:30 PM and the doctor didn't arrive until around 10 PM and we still hadn't eaten since lunch).
Mer got some IV stuff to calm the contractions, a steroid booster for little lungs, and other miscellaneous labs. The contractions weren't calming down that much so now she's only getting IV fluids.
We spent the night here. Mer was progressing a little yesterday, but isn't going into full on labor so we might go home tomorrow if she's still pregnant. It's nice that the babies get to cook a little longer, but it's kind of crummy that she gets to feel every contraction until then. She's doing really well though and the babies on the monitors are doing great (or "looking beautiful" as the nurses are saying).
Today for lunch they're bringing me sweet and sour pork and strawberry shortcake.
